A 1912 Weber by Aeolian piano refers to the high-quality pianos manufactured by the Weber Piano Company, which was acquired by the Aeolian Piano Company in 1903. Aeolian then produced Weber pianos as part of their Pianola line, known for their advanced player pianos. Today, the Weber name is owned by Young Chang, which continues to produce pianos under the Weber brand.

Roughly eight years ago we sold this original instrument to a customer of ours in Limerick who carefully looked after it and had it tuned annually. She mentioned that when guests came to her house they would always comment on how beautiful the piano looked in her living room. It saw her through to Grade 6 in piano lessons and recently she traded it back to us against a Yamaha U1, as she was now after greater dynamics and versatility when playing, going from Grade 6 to advanced diploma level.
This piano has the overall appearance of a light to medium Walnut finish, but in reality is a medium to dark Mahogany/Rosewood colour that over the last century has gradually become lighter from being exposed to sunlight. The finish is smooth, not dry in appearance, and has not been sanded at any point, so it looks very well overall, with no scaring, cracks, or veneer issues. The soundboard is in perfect shape and the cast iron frame has no cracks, but is not shiny and has some minor signs of wear. The original keyboard is white and has not become yellow overtime. One key has a minor chip which as been smoothened out by us and recently the keys were levelled and buffed to a shiny finish. The original strings are perfect. One string in the high register was previously broken by a tuner, who replaced it at the time. The pin block is solid, but a few of the tuning pins were soft, so we have added some pin tightening agent to firm them up. The piano is tuned slightly under Concert Pitch all its life and tuning is stable and very good in its current pitch. The gated legs are attractive, robust and the brass wheels are refinished and shiny, as are the pedals.
The tone is rounded and pure sounding and the keys/action is responsive with a medium touch. There is good volume and presence. We recommend this piano for a beginner and it should be traded back around Grade 6, unless you are only after a piano as a piece of furniture. It's not suitable for an advanced player. A good example of an original piano by a top manufacturer. Purchased in Harrod's, London originally.
This piano is currently in of Gorey, Wexford workshop and is available for viewing there. Currently we have no space to display it at our Lucan, Dublin showrooms.
