Manufacturer: Challen, London, UK
Time Period: 1930's
Finish: Hand French Polished Mahogany
Size: 4'7" (Most Compact Size)
A mellow sounding instrument, made using fine woods and materials, with a compact design to fit into even the smallest of spaces. The case was previously stripped back and hand French polished several times followed by antique waxing. Brass-works are refinished and the pedal section re-padded to reduce noise when operating sustain. The soundboard and cast iron frame are in excellent condition. Original ivory keys are high quality, as new, and have been put through a whitening process.
The tone is mellow, clear, bright and with a surprising amount of presence when required. The internal mechanism was removed, stripped, reconditioned and now performs at its best. Hammer heads are voiced and action is regulated.
Ideal for a beginner student to learn the grades on and can be traded back once the student has reached a certain level and needs a more advanced instrument.
This piano is at our workshop in Gorey, Co. Wexford. If you live in the East, you are welcome to call for viewing. If not, we can move to our Lucan showroom once a space is freed up and you can view it there.
