Type: Overstrung/Underdamper Upright Piano
Brand: Rogers, London, UK
Finish: Restored Fiddle Back Mahogany
Date of Manufacture: 1937
A lovely piano from the renowned British piano maker, George Rogers & Sons. This model from 1937 is finished in a fiddle back mahogany cabinet. A nice feature of this piano is the octagonal leg design, which was also featured on their grand pianos from the same era. The internal action has been completed restored and this superb instrument has a warm, rich, mellow tone and responsive touch for ease of play. For its age and due to the amount of restoration completed, it is now quite a perfect looking and sounding piano from the Golden era. Rogers built solid, climate proof pianos that are found in schools and music institutions worldwide. Aesthetically as new and with a finish that is simple to clean with a dry tea towel and leaves no fingerprints like a modern Polyester piano does. Compact sleek design with beautiful pedals and unusual styled octagonal leg. With feature moulding on the top door front panel, this piano has a little bit more detail than most pianos from the 1930's.
Dimensions: Width: 140cm, Depth: 59cm, Height: 118cm
Restoration Process: The casework now looks the same as when it was originally manufactured, having been stripped back, repaired and finished with many coats of the finest grade polish. The brass trimmings, including every screw, inside and out, are refinished and shiny. The back of the piano is resprayed and fully lined.
The hammers are resurfaced, realigned, and now perform at their optimum best. Pedal section was removed and reconditioned: and while the pedals were out, the inner base of the piano resprayed. Pedals are regulated and new pads installed around them to reduce movement noise when in operation. Strings, pins, and soundboard are cleaned. Each ivory key was put through a cleaning and whitening process using ultra violet light. Piano is tuned, toned and ready to play.
