Art Deco Walnut cased overstrung upright piano by Ernst Kaps, circa 1922, with stylised inlaid decoration on front and lower panel. Ernst Kaps are amongst the worlds finest makers endowed with a reputation for high end craftsmanship and excellence. This beautiful sounding instrument was previously restrung with new tuning pins, hammer heads and shanks, dampers, tapes, springs, felts, bushings, and comes in excellent condition for its great age.

It has long strings and a large soundboard, giving it volume and presence when required, and the original ivory keys are responsive, with a nice even touch throughout. The Tenor and Bass register are strong, potent to the last note. We have regulated the internal action and tuned it to Concert Pitch. The case was oiled and waxed and brass trimmings refinished. Keys were put through a whitening process. Name-board felt replaced.

Walnut Art Deco stylised Kaps are rare to find, most are black. They were way ahead of there time and at their peak were ranked equal to the big names like Steinway and Bosendorfer. A true family heirloom.
