A 145cm tall 19th century German overstrung by Carl Bechstein.
An extraordinary example of early Bechstein excellence, this 1883 upright piano stands at an imposing 145cm tall, offering a depth of tone and power that rivals many baby grands. With its long string length and generous soundboard, the instrument delivers rich deep bass, a singing treble, and excellent tonal projection – traits that made Bechstein the piano of choice for Liszt, Debussy and Queen Victoria herself.
Recently reconditioned, this piano has undergone expert regulation and voicing while retaining much of its original character. The action is responsive, the tone refined, and the cabinet has been sympathetically refinished in satin black, allowing the intricate original casing to shine with understated elegance.
Hand-built in Berlin in Bechstein’s golden era, this is not only a wonderful musical instrument but also a piece of piano making history. Ideal for musicians, collectors or those looking for something truly unique.
