Full Piano Service
Full Piano Service
O'Briain Pianos provide a complete piano service for upright and grand pianos.
Here is what's involved in a full service:
Panels are removed. Internal mechanism known as the 'action' is removed, pressure blasted outdoors, lubricated, re-aligned, with parts repaired where necessary.
Keys are removed, pressure blasted, bushings cleaned and lubricated using Microfine PTFE Teflon Powder , keybed hoovered out, punchings replaced where necessary, front rail and balance rail pins cleaned/sanded/and lubricated using Protek CLP, and key-tops cleaned/buffed.
Piano is tuned, sometimes twice depending on age and previous work. Action and keys are regulated. Keys are levelled. Free play is minimized in the action and keys. Pedals are lubricated and regulated. Compacted pedal felt is replaced with new felt to minimize pedal noise.
If the tuning pins are weak and the piano struggles to hold its tune, pins are punched to tighten them, but if more extensive tighening is required, the piano is put onto its back using a purpose built rolling machine and a pin tighening agent is added into the pins and then left to harden for one hour before tuning.
At the end of the process your piano will play and feel its optimum best for age and condition.
