A rare and beautiful Steinway & Sons from the world's number one piano manufacturer. We have worked on many Steinways over the years, but this original is by far the best original we have come across. The cabinet is like new still, as it was loved by it's caretakers, St. Andrew's Church in Westland Row, Dublin, who kept it out of light and had it tuned annually by Fergus Woods master tuner.
The tone is superb, full and rounded, mellow and soft, with a light to medium responsive touch. We have oiled and waxed the case, refinished the brass, tuned it to Concert Pitch and regulated the internals. The strings have been cleaned and castor wheels repaired. The original receipt is still on the piano and it was sold by Waltons.
It's a large instrument with long strings, large soundboard, and full cast iron frame from top to bottom. The internals are in perfect working order, as many small repairs were completed by Waltons over the years. A piano that was well looked after and to become a true family heirloom. Built in 1894 and plays like a dream to this day. The appraisal value of this piano is between 10 and €14,000, so a sound investment that is priced low to sell.
